Blogs contribute to this terribly narcissistic trend for people to assert their opinions as fact. Myself included. I now have a (very, very) small audience to testify to and say “Hey! This is what I believe. You should see it too!” And there is just something fundamentally wrong with that.
So I’m stepping back and reconsidering how I go about this blog. I follow some really inspiring people on Twitter; I read their blogs and get a lot of out of them, and I hope for my readers that they find this as a source of encouragement as well. I don’t see anything wrong with owning your own opinions and saying “Hey, this is what I believe.” But it should end there. This is what I believe.
I believe in Catholicism. I believe in love, a love I don’t deserve more or less than anyone else, yet we still all can receive it. I believe in female empowerment, and I also believe contraception does not accomplish that. I believe that modern media is a huge detriment to not only society, but also specifically, females and our ability to thrive as a gender. I believe we were created out of goodness and fall because of sin. I also believe that each and every one of us is just as prone to sin as the next. I believe we all not only desire, but require to love and be loved.
I apologize if I have offended anyone. I am just a regular twenty-something catholic girl, trying to make it in a non-catholic world.
